Meet Our Laboratory
Sppare.me and the Diamond Institute for Infertility & Menopause (Diamond) formed a strategic long-term collaboration for the testing, processing and storage of your sperm samples.
This is great news for our customers, as each sample is gaining responsibility of two well-established companies. This also means that each process with respect to your sample is subject to a 4-eye review protocol.
In this blog we will introduce you to the facility where your sperm samples are safely processed and securely stored. Your fertility could not be insured in a better way.
Diamond’s Location
Diamond has three facilities in New Jersey and New York. All three facilities offer sophisticated setting with state-of-the-art laboratory and embryology services.
Your sperm samples are carefully tested and securely stored at Diamond’s main center located in Millburn, New Jersey.
Diamond Experience
Diamond is one of the most established full service fertility centers in the United States and in the world. It is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of infertility since 1968. Specifically, Diamond has vast experience in testing, freezing and storage of sperm samples for future use in fertility procedures.
Diamond’s experienced and professional medical staff has performed many thousands of fertility procedures and inseminations using fresh or cryopreserved sperm samples.
Diamond is an approved member and reports to The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART), a sub division of the American Fertility Society.
Diamond’s internationally recognized medical and scientific staff, led by Matan Yemini, MD, have been responsible for acknowledged breakthroughs and extensive research in the field of reproductive medicine.
Testing & Storage
After ordering our advanced insulated sperm freezing kit and shipping back your sperm sample, your sample is carefully tested by the Diamond staff for sperm count, motility and volume. Many of our customers choose to add a Morphology test for their sperm sample. After testing your sample, you will receive a full sperm report with your test results. If your sperm sample qualifies for preservation, Diamond divides it into vials (usually between 3 to 5 vials) and store them inside a cryogenic tank.
Diamond’s Cryogenic Tanks
Your sperm samples are stored inside a stainless steel cryogenic tank. The cryogenic tank is filled with liquid nitrogen to reach a temperature of -320°F.
We are not relying only on temperature monitoring electronic devices, which could fail over time. The temperature inside the cryogenic tanks is monitored and documented every day by a lab staff person, including during the weekends. In case of a power drop, a back-up electrical system will keep our lab and cryogenic tanks working.
Secure Storage
The Diamond facility, including the lab and cryogenic tanks, is electronically locked and monitored, with access granted to authorized personnel only.
Diamond’s Regulatory Compliance
Diamond complies with all relevant regulations for testing and storage of reproductive tissues, including sperm specimens. Diamond is NJ-State licensed, FDA registered and CLIA inspected.
Clinical Laboratory License No. 00047897, FDA Establishment ID 3003945103, CLIA ID 31D0683204
With over 50 years of experience in sperm cryopreservation and storage, and a leading and dedicated medical and scientific staff, we made sure that your sperm samples are in the best possible hands.
