Let’s start by stating the obvious: storing one sample is always better than not preserving your sperm at all.

In general, the more sperm you store now, the cheaper and less complicated using your sample down the road will be. For instance, the simplest and least expensive procedure (IUI) usually requires 1-2 vials per cycle. The next common procedure (IVF) can be done using a single vial from which a fraction of the vial or even one healthy sperm (ICSI) is used for a fertility procedure.

If your sperm is in good shape, we can usually extract between 3 and 5 vials from each kit you send to us.

We always recommend storing more now to allow for more options and opportunities in the future. While every customer has different circumstances and different dreams for the future, most of our customers order two home sperm kits. This is why our middle package is the most popular one.

If you ordered one kit you need just one business day to produce your sample and ship back the kit to us. Please keep in mind that we accept kits Tuesdays through Fridays so you should send the kits back to us Mondays through Thursdays with our prepaid overnight priority shipment.

As explained in our instructions, it is recommended to allow at least 2 and no more than 5 days between each ejaculation. Assuming that our instructions are carefully followed and there are no clinical issues with your sperm, you should allow 2.5 business days for each home sperm kit you are ordering.

We do recommend holding off any planned medical procedure or drug therapy that might impact your fertility, until after receiving our lab results.

We ship all kits together in one package. You will be asked to return the kits to our lab one by one. For optimal results, it is recommended to allow 2 to 5 days between each ejaculation.

During checkout, you will be asked to choose a convenient delivery date. In order for the package to reach on time, we ship it the night before your chosen date through an overnight FedEx shipping service. The package usually arrives around noon time. You will get your tracking information as soon as your package is shipped.

We ship kits to customers Mondays through Fridays. This means you can receive your kits Tuesdays through Saturdays (as they are shipped overnight).

Saturday deliveries has an additional one-time shipping fee of $25, added to your cart during checkout.

Please note that in case you wish to receive the package the day after your order, you will need to place your order at or before 2:30 p.m. EST.

Our kit includes a unique preservation medium that keeps your sample viable during its journey to our lab. It is important that this medium stay cooled in your fridge right after you receive the package.

That is why we let you choose a convenient delivery date for the kit. On that chosen delivery date, the expected delivery time is between 10 a.m and 12 p.m. You should be available before 4:30 p.m to store the preservation medium in your fridge.

It is possible to receive the kits at your workplace (the package is sent inside a box so no one sees its contents).

However, since the preservation medium inside the package needs to stay cooled at all times, you will need to take some extra steps:

  1. When you receive the package at your work-place, open it and put the ice-pack in the freezer, and the pink preservation medium in the fridge.
  2. When you are about to go home, place back the ice-pack and the preservation medium in the foam container within the box (as they were originally placed when you first opened the package). The ice-pack should keep the preservation medium cool on your way back home.
  3. As soon as you arrive home, open the box again and put the preservation medium in the fridge, (you can then dispose the ice-pack as you will not need it anymore).

Each one of our home sperm storage kits contains (1) an isolating Styrofoam container which you will put your sample in. Inside the container you will find (2) our pink preservation medium inside a tube, (3) a thermal bag for more isolation, (4) a biohazard bag for security precautions, (5) a couple of small sized ice packs for keeping the package cool on its way to you, (6) an empty sample cup where you will keep your sample, (7) a FedEx Pak for the shipping procedure, (8) some stickers for our internal process, and (9) documentation including our easy to use instructions, a blood test referral to be sent by your lab to us, and a personal details document.

Our kit is pre-paid for FedEx priority overnight return shipment to our lab, and fully compliant with the Category-B bio-substance packaging guidelines. Please follow our instructions to get more information.

Our preservation medium is a liquid that serves to keep your sperm sample viable for up to 20 hours, during its shipment to our lab. We use a reliable, safe and efficient preservation medium.

Your privacy is very important to us. Your kit is shipped inside a FedEx package, which does not show anywhere the content of the package.

We ship kits to customers Mondays through Fridays. This means you can receive your kits Tuesdays through Saturdays (all our packages are shipped overnight).

Saturday deliveries has an additional one-time shipping fee of $25, added to your cart during checkout.

Fedex does not offer express delivery services on Sundays. 

Please note that in case you wish to receive the package the day after your order, you will need to place your order at or before 2:30 p.m. EST.

We want to ensure that your sample arrives at our lab during normal operating hours and someone is always available to receive the shipment. Therefore, you can ship your home sperm kit back to our lab Mondays through Thursdays only.

Once you are ready to ship back your kit to us, you should find the nearest FedEx station to you and drop your kit at a FedEx (Inside) Dropbox, located inside the station.

To find the nearest FedEx (Inside) Dropbox to you, and the last FedEx Express pickup time, please:

(1) First, visit www.fedex.com/locate.

(2) Enter a desired zip code, click on the ‘More’ drop- down menu, and check ‘Drop box shipping’, before starting your search with the magnifying glass. If you are using your mobile phone, instead of ‘More’ click on ‘Filter’ and then on ‘Additional services’.

(3) Choose the location nearest to you and pay attention to the word ‘Inside’ at the end of the purple description, and to the orange square for last express pickup time.

When arriving at the station, choose an ‘Express’ Dropbox and not a ‘Ground’ Dropbox.

Please try to drop your kit at least 15 minutes before the last Express pickup time.

Yes. We will send you an email with the tracking details for your package as soon as it is sent to you. When you return the kit to our lab – once your kit is dropped off, you will ask the FedEx staff member to provide you with a tracking number or contact us and we will help you track your package.

We currently do not store or retrieve sperm for donation.
Storage of donor sperm generally requires further screening and testing of the donor, which we currently do not offer.

For two main reasons:

  1. We believe that sperm storage should not be a luxury but rather accessible to everyone. Therefore, we provide our customers with the most and cost efficient service without compromising our highest standards in regard to security, safety, quality and customer support.
  2. Our main focus is cryopreservation and storage of sperm. Unlike other companies, we do not preserve eggs and embryos, or offer sperm donation services. This allows us to be more cost efficient.

We commit to providing our customers with the most affordable service fee, and offer one of the most generous refund policies in the market.

Here is a summary of our refund policy:

In case of any technical issue related to the delivery of the package or the package itself – you can always ask for a Full Refund under our 100% Process Quality Guarantee Policy.

In case our package was delivered to your desired address on your chosen delivery date – you can ask for a Full Refund except for $100 for one or two kits, and $175 for three kits, covering our most direct shipping and handling expenses. Should you decide not to use one or more of your kits, please don’t ship them back to our lab, but rather discard them and apply for a refund.

In case you shipped back a kit to our lab for testing and processing – you may ask for Full Refund except for our non-refundable direct shipping and handling expenses (see above) and our non-refundable return shipping and lab processing fee of $100.

One insight regarding our process:

Our process is a proven ‘tried and tested’ solution for shipping sperm, which works great for our many customers. However, statistically, some customers may have a sperm quality issue causing a sample to be ineligible for storage. It could happen, and from various reasons. The good news is that in today’s modern world, there are many different ways to effectively address sperm quality issues.

We do want to let you know that the vast majority of the samples we receive is viable and eligible for cryopreservation, so the chances of your sample being not eligible are quite low (yet possible). Upon arrival, our lab tests each sperm sample for volume, count and motility before processing and storing it.

In case there is any problem with your sample we will contact you immediately and guide you through the process. You will of course be eligible for a refund under our refund policy summarized above.

At this time we cannot bill your insurance directly or provide medical-related diagnosis or information to your health insurance provider.  We will provide you with a receipt, which you can use for possible reimbursement.

As our prices are the lowest in the market, we are less flexible with financial aid. Nevertheless, we are currently in the process of developing financial aid programs to ensure that financial standing does not prevent people from securing their future. Please contact us for further details.

We are not fans of hidden fees. We are really not. This is why it is important for us that you know in advance what you will have to pay for within the process. When you place an order with us you pay a one time for fee for the kits, including two way priority overnight shipping and handling, all lab processing and testing, including the first sperm storage year for free. From the second year onwards you will pay for the sperm storage of your sample, either by an annual payment, or by ordering one of our pre-paid multiple year plans.

In case you wish to retrieve your sample you will also pay a one time fee. Termination is free of charge. For more information please see our pricing page.

30 days prior to your plan’s expiration date, we will send you an email notification indicating that your regular annual storage or your pre-paid multiple year plan is about to expire. You could then choose to either terminate your sperm samples (free of charge), retrieve your samples (within the United States for a one-time fee), purchase a new pre-paid multiple year plan or continue with your regular annual plan.

We offer the following packages to store sperm:

Our first package, “The Standard”, is $525. This package includes 1 home sperm kit, 1 year of storage, all lab processing, sample testing for count and motility, optimal vial split, priority overnight round-trip shipping, and 3 interest free payments.

Our second package, “The Recommended”, which is also the most popular, is $795. This package includes everything that comes with “The Standard” package, as well as 1 additional home sperm kit, and an option for 5 interest free payments.

Our third package, “The Ultimate”, is $1185. This package includes everything that comes with “The Standard” package, as well as 2 additional home sperm kits, and an option for 7 interest free payments.

Additional years of storage will be subject to an annual fee of $145 in case you ordered one home sperm kit, or $215 in case you ordered more than one home sperm kit. You can also order one of our discounted pre-paid multiple year plans.

Termination is FREE of charge. The fee for retrieving your sample and shipping it to the clinic of your choice is one-time $345.  If a sample is retrieved within its first year of storage an increased retrieval fee of approximately $700 will be due; in case you intend to retrieve your sample within a year, please contact us.

Absolutely. We have a solution that keeps your sample viable for up to 20 hours, until it reaches our lab. Delivering sperm overnight is a ‘tried and tested’ solution for sperm freezing and it worked well for our many customers.

Upon arrival, we carefully test each and every sperm sample for volume, count and motility before processing and storing it. In case there is any problem with your sample we will contact you immediately and guide you through the process.

We are strictly monitoring our process in order to allow optimal clinical results for our customers. Our 100% Process Guarantee Policy ensures that you will not be paying anything if there was a technical issue related to the delivery of the package or the package itself (e.g., a FedEx delay).

We require to provide us with test results for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis CSyphilis, and HTLV 1/2. These tests should be submitted to us within 45 days of the day you produce your sample so we can establish a clear baseline. We will also accept any blood test done up to 30 days before the sample is provided.

If you do not provide us with blood work within 45 days of the sample collection, it will be stored in a special ‘potentially infectious” storage tank as a temporary precaution. In such a case an additional $100 fee will be charged immediately after the last day of the 45-day period. We reserve the right to terminate your specimen if blood-work is not then provided upon our various notifications.

Each of our kits contains a referral letter for blood testing which you can use with any laboratory preferred by your healthcare insurance provider.

We only provide the referral and have no recommendations or affiliations with labs to perform the blood test. There are no specific service provider we require you to use and you can perform the blood test wherever you desire based on your insurance coverage. You can consult with your health service provider with respect to nearby labs that are covered by your insurance. You will need to instruct your lab to provide us with the test results within 45 days of the day your sample was stored.

Overnight delivery of sperm is a ‘tried and tested’ solution for preserving one’s fertility. Our unique preservation medium coupled with our secure packaging will help keep your sperm sample viable during the shipment process.

Sperm motility and (to some extent) sperm count are reduced throughout overnight delivery. They are also reduced as a result of the cryopreservation process – even for a sample that is produced onsite. Luckily, today’s technologies have incredible ways of utilizing the sperm that do survive the freezing process for reproduction. Some methods just require one viable sperm.

Upon arrival, we carefully test each and every sperm sample for volume, count and motility before processing and storing it.

We recommend refraining from ejaculation at least 2 but not more than 5 days prior to producing your sample. We also advise that you produce your sample and then drop your home sperm kit as close as possible to the last FedEx Express pickup time. It is vitally important to follow our instructions carefully. Our instructions are very clear and easy to use. Following them will ensure an optimal result.

In order to determine the viability of your sample, our lab tests it for volume, count, and motility, and sends you an electronic report once testing has been completed. You can also opt for a morphology test to give you a wider picture of your sperm quality (this test has an additional fee of $100, added upon checkout). Absolutely. Although not a must for the process, you may be interested to take this opportunity and get more information about your sperm quality and fertility. We offer a morphology test for an additional fee of $100. In a nutshell, this test reports the percentage of sperm that appear normal, in terms of size and shape. The results of this test may facilitate your decision of how many sperm samples to process.

Being HIV positive or carrying Hepatitis B or any other infectious disease, should not prevent anyone from preserving their future. The only difference is that infectious samples are kept in a more secured storage tank, separate from other samples. In light of special storage procedure required for potentially infectious sperm samples, an additional annual fee of $100 will be charged. If you are aware of carrying any infectious disease, please notify us in advance to ease the process of reviewing your blood tests.

For this reason, your sample will reach our lab within the same time frame whether you live 20 minutes from our lab or 20 hours from it.

Retrieving some or all of your vials is very simple. Contact us by email (support@sppare.me) or phone (855-855-3945) 30 business days in advance and we will send you an authorization form. Complete the form, notarize it, and send it back to us. We will prepare the documentation and ship the requested number of vials in a special shipper chilled with liquid nitrogen to a licensed fertility clinic or a licensed storage facility of your choice.

Should you decide you no longer want to preserve your sample, simply contact us and we will send you a termination form. Fill it in, notarize it, and send it back to us. We will terminate your sample quickly and safely, and you will receive a written confirmation. No additional fees are required.

You are the sole legal owner of your samples. Only you can release your samples for use with you partner. Your samples cannot and will never be donated.

Currently there’s no known limit. for how long a sperm can be frozen for. In some cases sperm stored for 20+ years has been successfully utilized for insemination.

You are in control of your frozen samples and so you can choose to retrieve your sample whenever you want, as long as you give us a 30-business day notice before you wish to retrieve your sample. Usually our service fits customers that seek to store their sample for the long term. If you are looking for short term storage, you may want to check local service providers.

We want you to know that your ability to have babies in the future is our first priority, and we do take all possible scenarios into account, even this extreme, rare and unlikely one. In case Sppare.me ceases to exist, for any reason, an experienced sperm transfer coordinator will contact each and every customer and carefully arrange the transfer of their sperm samples to a facility of choice.
